Yobo Safety Settings 2025

Yubo Parental Controls & Safety Settings

Why Yubo Safety Settings Are Critical in 2025

Yubo connects teens through live video, swiping to match, and chatting with strangers. While it offers features like complete age verification and live moderation, the potential for harmful contact remains high. Experts including Milovidov (2025) and Livingstone et al. (2025) emphasise that such platforms require proactive set-up and supervision to mitigate risks.

Yubo Safety Settings Available

How to Set Up Yubo Safety Settings

1. Verify Age Accurately

  • Use Yubo’s built-in system or the Yoti app to verify your child’s age via selfie/ID prompts.
  • If mismatch occurs, the app requires further validation—only verified profiles join their age group.
This measure helps segregate teens and adults into separate communities.

2. Limit Location Details

  • Open the Settings (gear icon) > Safety & Privacy > Location.
  • Turn off Use My Location and enable Hide My City.
These are default settings for users under 18.

3. Customize Swipe Visibility

  • Under Swipe Settings, toggle Don’t show my profile to hide from strangers.
  • Set preferred age, gender, and location filters so your child sees only similar profiles.

4. Set Up Muted Words Filter

  • Under Safety & Privacy, locate the Muted Words section.
  • Enter words, abbreviations, or emojis your child may find offensive or triggering.
This stops strangers from sending unwanted language directly.

5. Use Blocking & Reporting Tools

  • Tap the shield icon on a user’s profile to Block them.
  • To report content, tap the three-dot menu and follow prompts—upload screenshots or video if needed.
This gives Yubo’s Safety Team full context to take action.

6. Count on Live Stream Moderation

  • Yubo monitors every live session in real-time using AI and human moderators.
  • Pop-up alerts appear if someone attempts to share personal details (like name or address).
Violations trigger immediate intervention and, if needed, report to law enforcement.

Why Enabling These Settings Is Essential

Live social platforms like Yubo present real risks, from exposure to strangers by location to accidental sharing of private data. However, with age verification, careful swipe filtering, muted words, and reporting tools activated, parents can significantly improve safety. These controls help teens engage responsibly and allow adults to maintain oversight without stifling social development.
