BBC iPlayer Safety Settings
BBC iPlayer Safety Settings are available for using the platform in a browser on digital devices and for the iPlayer App. Parents should note that the safety settings must be set up on each device individually.

Turning on Parental Controls
- Go to https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer
- Select Parental Guidance at the bottom of the page or use this link https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/guidance
- On the Parental Controls Parental Guidance page select Lock now
- Tick the I aged 16 or over option
- Click Continue
- Select Turn on PG Lock
- When prompted create a 4-digit PIN code
- Click on Save
- The 4-digit PIN code will be required whenever access is sought for age restricted content
Setting up Parental Controls for the iPlayer App
- Open the iPlayer App
- Select Menu
- Then Settings
- Then Parental Guidance
- You will be prompted to enter a four-digit PIN number
- In the event you forget the four-digit PIN number, you will be prompted to enter a Secret question and a Secret answer
- Select Activate to save your four-digit PIN number
- The four-digit PIN number will used to confirm the person accessing content is over 16
Setting up Parental Controls on a Smart TV App
- Open the BBC iPlayer App on the Smart TV
- Go to Settings
- Then select Settings & Help
- Select Parental Guidance
- Select Set up Parental Guidance
- Give Confirmation you're aged 16 or over and when prompted create four-digit PIN number
- Select OK and confirm the four-digit PIN number
- When prompted select a Security Question
- Select OK and confirm the answer to the Secret Question when prompted
- When the Set Up Complete message appears select Close to go return to BBC iPlayer
