Replika is an AI companion with an avatar, ongoing conversations and optional relationship, image and voice features. Adults may use it for company or roleplay. This Replika safety settings guide helps parents recognise the service, understand its adult age rule and respond if a child is using it.

Age Rating and Child Safety Warning
Replika’s terms require users to be at least 18. It is an adult companion service. Parental permission, a paid account or the Friend relationship setting does not create a child account. App store ratings describe a storefront classification and do not replace the account age rule.
There is no verified parent linking system or child mode in the official material reviewed. Do not create an adult account for a child. Age information and enforcement cannot guarantee that every person who accesses an account is an adult.
Replika Safety Settings: Restrictions Available
Review these Replika safety settings in the account actually being used. Also, check each device because one choice may not apply everywhere.
Replika: Choose the Friend relationship
For example, relationship status shapes how the companion interacts. Options beyond friendship may depend on the subscription.
- First, tap your Replika’s name on the home screen.
- Next, open Relationship below the experience information.
- Then, choose Friend, then tap X to save.
Why it matters: This can reduce a romantic framing for an adult user. It is not a mature content filter or an enforced safeguard for children.
Control notifications
In addition, notifications can draw attention back to a conversation.
- First, open Settings and select Notifications.
- Next, review the notification choice and switch unwanted notifications off. If the app does not offer an off option, disable Replika notifications through the device’s app notification controls.
Why it matters: Quieter notifications can support breaks. They do not limit time spent inside the app or block web access.
Replika Safety Settings and Why They Matter
Replika: Protect the iPhone app with a PIN
However, Replika documents this feature for iOS. Do not assume the same control exists on Android or the website.
- First, open Settings using the gear icon.
- Next, select PIN and Face ID.
- Then, turn on Enable PIN and create a four digit code.
- Finally, enable Face ID if wanted and supported.
Why it matters: A local lock can reduce casual access on a shared phone. It does not secure the website, replace an account password or provide parental supervision.
Review remembered personal details
Also, the Memory area lets users inspect stored facts and remove or change selected information. However, visible entries are only part of Replika’s memory system.
- First, from the home screen, tap your Replika’s name and select Memory.
- Next, review the listed facts and use the available edit or delete action for information you do not want retained.
- If the controls differ in your version, contact official support before assuming a fact has been removed.
Why it matters: Removing a memory is different from erasing chat history. Replika says the complete conversation history cannot currently be deleted without deleting the account.
Replika: Report an unsafe reply
Use the message report route for hostile, sexual, misleading or otherwise concerning responses.
- First, tap the concerning Replika message.
- Next, select Report a problem and describe what happened.
- Then, use the official Contact Support form if the message control is unavailable or you need follow up.
Why it matters: Reports alert the provider. A report does not guarantee an immediate response, erase the content or make continued conversation safe.
Delete a Replika account
Finally, deletion permanently removes the profile and conversation history. Cancel recurring payments separately before closing the account.
- On mobile, open the home screen gear, then Settings and Account Settings.
- Next, choose Delete Replika, select a reason and tap Next.
- Then, enter the account password and select Delete my Account.
- On the website, sign in at my.replika.com, open the top left gear and Account Settings, then Delete my Account. Follow the reason and password prompts.
Why it matters: This is irreversible. Official help articles use slightly different account labels, so use support if your screen differs. Uninstalling the app does not remove the account.
Cancel recurring payments
In addition, free access and paid subscriptions offer different features. Greater immersion, relationship options or voice features are not safety protections.
- First, find the purchase receipt and identify whether Apple, Google Play or Replika processed the payment.
- For an Apple purchase, open device Settings, your name, Subscriptions, then Replika and Cancel Subscription.
- For Google Play, open your profile, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, then Replika and Cancel subscription. Follow the confirmation prompts.
- For a website purchase, sign into my.replika.com, open the gear icon, select Settings, Subscription, then Cancel subscription. Complete the prompts and retain confirmation.
Why it matters: Cancel before renewal and check the end date. For PayPal billing, open PayPal Settings, Payments and Manage Automatic Payments. Select Replika and cancel the payment agreement. Deletion, refunds and cancellation are separate processes. Refund eligibility depends on the seller and applicable consumer rights.
Replika Safety Settings for Device Permissions
Device choices reduce access to sensors and alerts. They do not delete information already uploaded.
- On Android, open device Settings, Apps and Replika. Select Permissions and deny unnecessary camera, microphone, photos and location access. Available categories depend on the device.
- Next, on iPhone or iPad, open Settings, Privacy & Security and the relevant permission category. Disable unwanted access for the installed app. Confirm it is the same product before applying these instructions.
- Finally, review device Notifications and browser site permissions separately. Turn off unwanted alerts and avoid previews on a shared screen.
Why it matters: An app permission does not control every browser or another device. Therefore, check each route and keep sensitive material out of uploads.
How to Use Replika Safely
For parents who discover a child using this service, begin with a calm conversation about what they enjoy and what worries them. Then help them leave the adult service without dismissing their feelings. In addition, arrange support from a trusted adult and agree how to prevent renewed access.
- First, keep school names, home addresses, passwords, financial details and other people’s private information out of conversations.
- Next, avoid uploading intimate images, children’s photographs or recordings that reveal other people without permission.
- Then, check important advice with a qualified person. However, an affectionate or confident response can still be inaccurate.
- Finally, protect sleep, schoolwork and time with friends. For example, notice distress when access changes or the companion contradicts expectations.
Replika Safety Settings: Limits and Current Concerns
Discuss consent, pressure and secrecy. For example, an AI character can imitate affection, agreement or jealousy without understanding a person’s welfare. Therefore, end an interaction that encourages harmful behaviour, sexual pressure or isolation. Never follow a request to send money, reveal a password or move into an unfamiliar service.
A companion cannot replace a trusted person, professional care or emergency help. In an emergency, contact local emergency services if there is immediate danger. When reporting, preserve only the information needed. However, do not circulate intimate or abusive material.
Replika Support and Regional Differences
Menu positions vary between iOS, Android and the website. Replika’s privacy policy describes service providers, including external AI model providers, that may process information. Do not treat a private conversation screen as a promise that only your device processes the text.
For access, correction, deletion or privacy questions, use the contact route in the official privacy policy. Review camera, microphone and photo permissions on each device. Refuse optional access you do not need. No verified native parent dashboard, universal child filter or native multifactor authentication pathway was established in this review.
Replika Safety Settings Checklist
- First, confirm the adult age requirement and prevent access from a child’s account.
- Next, review recurring charges and cancel unwanted renewals through the original seller.
- Then, reduce sensitive information, optional permissions and unwanted notifications.
- Finally, report harmful replies through the documented support route.
- Finally, check the app and website separately, including other devices and accounts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Friend mode make Replika suitable for a child?
No. The minimum age remains 18. Relationship status changes the interaction style and does not create a protected child experience.
Can I erase only my full conversation history?
Replika’s help centre says that removing the entire message history requires account deletion. Editing Memory entries is a separate action.
