Tubi Safety Settings

Tubi logo

Tubi offers free films, television series and selected live channels, supported by advertising. Teenagers may be attracted to familiar films and a broad catalogue. This guide explains Tubi safety settings for parents, with clear distinctions between UK access and supported US Kids features.

The UK service is for adults aged 18 or older, and its official help says parental controls are currently unsupported there. Do not use US Kids account instructions as permission for a child to use the UK service.

Age Rating and Child Safety Warning

Tubi’s UK terms require users to be at least 18 and recommend that adults monitor other household members’ access. The general terms have a different 13 and over rule, with parental consent for users under 18. The UK annex replaces that rule for UK users.

Supported US Kids accounts are linked to an adult account and offer a separate viewing experience. They are not permission for a younger child to create a regular independent account. App store ratings and individual programme classifications also do not override regional terms.

Horror, sexual material, violence, strong language and advertisements require attention. A child mode can narrow content, but it cannot guarantee that every programme suits a particular child.

Tubi Safety Settings and Regional Content Restrictions

Understand the UK parental control limitation

The UK help article explicitly says parental controls are not currently supported. The UK service’s adult eligibility rule also applies.

  • Read the local Terms of Use and Parental Controls help before allowing access.
  • Keep UK Tubi account details and signed in devices under adult control.
  • Use device access restrictions to prevent a child opening the adult service.
  • Choose an alternative age appropriate service with verified protections for children.

Why it matters: A device lock controls access to the app rather than creating a Tubi child profile. US instructions cannot establish a UK PIN, rating filter or permission for child viewing.

Create a Kids account on a supported US player

Tubi’s supported Kids account setup links a child viewing account to the adult account. Availability depends on the player and region.

  • On a supported US device, open Who’s Watching.
  • Choose Add Account, then For Kids.
  • Sign in to the main adult account and follow the child name and content level prompts.
  • Choose a suitable Kids account content level and complete setup with the adult present.

Why it matters: A linked Kids account separates its viewing experience from the adult catalogue. Confirm support on each screen and do not enter an older birth date to create a regular child account.

Protect supported Kids accounts with a PIN

Supported US Kids controls can require a password and a parental PIN. The adult should set and keep both private.

  • Open Account Settings, then Content Settings.
  • Use the available PIN setup prompts. Enter the adult account password when required to create or change the PIN.
  • Review the child’s content level. Changing Younger Kids to Older Kids requires the password.
  • Test switching away from the Kids account before allowing independent viewing.

Why it matters: Exit protection is different from a reminder. A child who knows the adult password or can open another account may weaken the restriction. Guest Kids Mode is also different from a linked Kids account.

Remove a supported Kids account when no longer needed

The adult can manage linked Kids accounts separately from the main account.

  • Open Account Settings, then Content Settings.
  • Choose Manage Kids Accounts and select the account.
  • Choose deletion and confirm with the adult password when requested.
  • Check the resulting account chooser and review any other signed in accounts.

Why it matters: Deleting one Kids account does not establish that every other device session, adult account or stored record has disappeared.

Tubi Account and Privacy Settings

Protect login and recovery

Use an adult controlled email and a unique password. Social sign in depends on the security and permissions of that linked account.

  • Open the official Tubi Sign In page yourself.
  • If you cannot access the account, use the official password recovery page and enter the registered email.
  • Follow the recovery message to set a unique password.
  • Review the account information with the adult present and secure the recovery email or linked Google or Apple account.

Why it matters: A content PIN cannot compensate for someone knowing the adult password. Avoid sending recovery codes to supposed support agents or free film promoters.

Review viewing history and notifications

Tubi’s web account help describes settings for history, lists and notifications. These manage convenience and privacy rather than creating a child content filter.

  • Sign in on the official website and open Account Settings.
  • Review Notifications and turn off promotional choices you do not want where offered.
  • Open Continue Watching & List to review saved activity.
  • If you want to clear all viewing history, use Delete All Watch History on the supported history page. Read confirmation before proceeding.

Why it matters: Removing history may affect suggestions but does not prove data erasure. Automatic recommended playback can add activity, so a history entry does not always mean a child deliberately selected it.

Review privacy and report a concern

Advertising, viewing information and account data need a separate review. Kids privacy protections should not be assumed to apply to a regular account.

  • Open Tubi’s official Privacy Center and read the choices applicable to your location.
  • Review cookie and advertising options presented there.
  • For a programme, account or data concern, open Contact Support from the official service.
  • Describe the title, device and concern without including passwords or unnecessary personal information.

Why it matters: Privacy choices do not remove every advertisement or create a content filter. Data access or deletion requests may require verification and can be subject to retention exceptions.

How to Use Tubi Safely

For supported US family viewing, choose the child account and programme together. Agree a stopping point before playback begins. Test whether another account or device provides a route around the chosen controls.

Use CC where captions are available and keep the app updated through its official store. Captions support understanding rather than filtering language. Discuss advertising and require adult approval before following an offer or installing an app.

Essential Safety Advice and Current Concerns

Be cautious with websites asking for card details to unlock supposedly free Tubi access. Open the official service independently. Free streaming still involves advertising and data choices.

A child who sees upsetting material needs calm support. Stop playback, listen and review the viewing arrangement. Tubi’s UK terms say that its UK service has no user content, messaging or social features, but contact through an external app needs that app’s reporting tools.

Platform Support and Regional Differences

Tubi’s corporate availability list includes the US, Canada, Mexico, parts of Latin America, the UK and Australia. Ireland is not listed there. Do not assume that a UK app or US tutorial establishes Irish service availability.

Supported US Kids account features and the UK adult service must be assessed separately. Recheck current help after an update. No universal title blocking, daily viewing timer or autoplay off path is established by the sources linked here.

Tubi Safety Settings Checklist

  • Read the local account age rule before allowing access.
  • Keep children away from the UK adult service.
  • Use linked Kids accounts only on supported eligible services and devices.
  • Protect adult passwords and test account switching.
  • Review ads, history and privacy alongside content choices.

Questions about Tubi Safety Settings

Can I use US Kids setup instructions for a UK child?

The UK terms require adult users and UK help says parental controls are unsupported.

Why it matters: Use a suitable alternative service for a child rather than assuming US features apply.

Is Ireland included in Tubi’s listed markets?

Ireland does not appear in the current corporate availability list used for this guide.

Why it matters: Confirm official availability instead of using an unofficial access workaround.
