Peacock streams television, films, sport and selected live channels for eligible US viewers. Children may enjoy family programmes, while teenagers may follow series or sporting events. This guide explains Peacock safety settings for parents using the standalone service.
For parents, choose a suitable maturity rating for each profile and protect adult profiles with a PIN. Then check privacy, purchases and downloads. Peacock is not a standalone streaming option for viewers in Ireland.

Age Rating and Child Safety Warning
Peacock’s terms require the account holder to be 18 or older and resident in the US, including its territories. Kids and Teen profiles are viewing arrangements inside the adult’s account. They do not let a child independently buy a subscription.
The US Apple app rating is 13+ with in app controls. However, programmes include adult themes, violence, horror, strong language and live sports. An app rating is different from a profile’s content classification or your child’s suitability for a programme.
Peacock Safety Settings for Content and Profiles
Choose the correct Peacock profile type
Peacock offers Kids, Teen and Adult profiles with different maturity choices. The main account holder profile cannot be a Kids profile.
- Open Who’s Watching? and select the New Profile plus sign.
- Next, select an avatar, enter the name and indicate whether this is a Kids profile.
- For Kids, select Little Kids, Older Kids or Family. For a Teen profile, choose Family or Teen.
- Review the actual catalogue together. Then check maturity settings and PIN protection using the instructions below.
Why it matters: Kids choices range from TV Y to PG content, while Teen includes TV 14 and PG 13. However, ratings cannot assess individual needs. Protect every unrestricted profile and test whether a new profile offers another route to adult content.
Change a Peacock maturity rating
For example, maturity settings limit shows and films on a profile. Changes require the account password and a browser.
- On a computer or mobile browser, open Who’s Watching?.
- Then, select the Pencil icon beneath the profile, then Change beside Maturity Ratings.
- Enter the password, select the rating and choose Save Rating.
Why it matters: Instead, a TV player shows a QR code for making this change on mobile. Test the result on the television and keep the adult password private.
Peacock safety settings for adult profile PINs
A four digit Profile PIN protects switching access. It is separate from maturity ratings.
- On the browser’s Who’s Watching? page, select the profile’s Pencil icon.
- After that, turn the Profile Pin slider on and enter the account password.
- Create a private four digit PIN, then select Save PIN.
- Repeat for unrestricted profiles and test switching from the child’s profile.
- For a forgotten PIN, use customer care chat linked from the official PIN help article.
Why it matters: However, an unprotected adult profile offers another route to mature content. PIN changes cannot be made directly on TV, and the lock does not replace the child’s own rating.
Peacock safety settings for offline downloads
An eligible Premium Plus plan allows selected downloads on supported mobile devices.
- Open the app’s Download icon and review stored titles.
- In addition, select unwanted content, choose Downloaded with the checkmark, then Delete Download.
- Finally, review every family device where content has been saved.
Why it matters: However, stored titles need their own suitability check. Downloads expire, and logout or uninstalling removes that device’s downloaded Peacock content.
Peacock Safety Settings for Security and Privacy
Change or recover the Peacock password
For account security, use a unique password and an adult controlled email.
- Sign in on the official website. Open the profile icon, then Account and Settings.
- Next, under Password, select Reset Password and complete the prompts.
- If you cannot sign in, choose Forgot Password?, enter the registered email and select Continue.
- Follow the emailed reset link once within three hours.
Why it matters: Peacock requires at least ten characters including letters and numbers. Therefore, a longer unique password and secure email reduce takeover risks.
Review security and shared access
Peacock’s official settings overview includes Enhance Security. Check available options on the actual adult account.
- Sign in and open Account, then Settings.
- Then, review Enhance Security and follow the protection prompts offered to your account.
- For unfamiliar access, change your password and contact official support about removing unwanted sessions.
- Sign out on shared devices and avoid leaving the adult password in autofill.
Why it matters: Do not assume a password change removes every session. Instead, check shared devices and ask official support to help with access you cannot remove.
Peacock privacy settings and data requests
Similarly, the NBCUniversal Privacy Center explains local advertising choices and data requests.
- Open Peacock’s Privacy Policy or Your Privacy Choices link.
- After that, review Your Rights and Your Choices for your location.
- Use the applicable request or preference link, select the relevant service and complete required verification.
- Review device advertising and permission settings separately.
Why it matters: Viewing and device information can support recommendations and advertising. However, choices differ by location and do not stop all necessary processing.
Check billing before cancelling
Subscriptions renew automatically. Therefore, check the base plan, extra subscriptions and actual billing provider before cancelling.
- Sign in on Peacock’s website and open Account, then the Subscriptions tab.
- Review Payment Method, the next charge and each extra subscription.
- For direct billing, choose Cancel All Subscriptions and follow the confirmation prompts. Retain the confirmation email.
- To remove only an extra subscription, select it under Subscriptions, choose Remove Add-On and confirm.
- For Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon or other partner billing, cancel through that provider. Check each subscription separately.
Why it matters: Uninstalling does not stop billing. In addition, cancellation and refunds are different decisions. Access usually continues until the current term ends, and separate billing dates require care.
Peacock safety settings for account deletion
Peacock routes account deletion through its privacy page. The request may affect other NBCUniversal access.
- Review and cancel subscriptions through the actual billing provider first.
- Next, open official How do I delete my Peacock account? help.
- Follow its Privacy Page link and use the applicable deletion request route.
- Read the effects on paid plans and other services, then complete verification only if ready.
Why it matters: However, account deletion and stopping every billing arrangement are different. Data deletion may remove access and can have wider consequences.
Enable captions and report concerns
For accessible viewing, captions support understanding rather than filtering language.
- On TV, pause playback, press up and then right to Audio & Subtitles. Choose the subtitle option.
- Then, on mobile, tap the playing video, select the text bubble icon and choose subtitles.
- For a concern, open official Peacock Help and use Get in Touch or its customer care route.
- Include the title, time and device where relevant, without sending passwords.
Why it matters: However, some trailers or content may lack captions. Reporting supports an investigation but does not guarantee an immediate content change.
Peacock safety settings for notifications and marketing
Notifications and marketing messages can encourage repeated viewing. However, optional promotion differs from essential security or billing messages.
- For marketing, sign in to Account and open Data & Communications. Change the marketing toggle from On to Off, or choose unsubscribe in a marketing email.
- On iPhone or iPad, open device Settings, then Notifications, then Peacock. Switch Allow Notifications off.
- On supported Android phones, open Settings, Notifications, then App settings. Select Peacock and turn notifications off. Manufacturers may use different labels.
Why it matters: These choices reduce prompts rather than enforcing a viewing limit. In addition, essential account emails may continue after marketing stops. Keep those notices accessible to the adult.
Using Peacock Safety Settings with Your Family
Peacock safety settings work best alongside family conversations. First, watch together before agreeing to independent access. Then test profile switching and stored downloads on each screen. A rating filter helps, but live incidents, advertising and individual sensitivities need attention.
In addition, agree when viewing stops and use suitable device time controls if needed. The linked help does not establish a universal family timer or autoplay off path. A reminder is different from an enforced restriction.
Essential Safety Advice and Current Concerns
For example, sport can show injuries and upsetting reactions. Meanwhile, advertisements may prompt a child to visit another website. Discuss the difference between entertainment, advertising and a request to spend money.
Be cautious with fake account warnings, discounted access and unknown QR codes. Open the service yourself and never share passwords or verification messages. If a child sees upsetting material, stop playback and respond calmly.
Platform Support and Regional Differences
Peacock’s standalone terms require US access. Its international notice says the service is unavailable in other territories. Programmes licensed through an Irish or UK broadcaster use that broadcaster’s app and controls.
Maturity and PIN changes use a web or mobile browser, with TV QR prompts. Devices and downloads vary by plan and player. Recheck protection after updates.
Peacock Safety Settings Checklist
- Keep ownership, payments and recovery with an eligible adult.
- Choose suitable Kids or Teen ratings.
- PIN protect every unrestricted profile.
- Review downloads and privacy choices.
- Check cancellation with the actual billing provider.
Questions about Peacock Safety Settings
Can I change maturity settings directly on the TV?
Peacock provides a QR code for completing changes on a mobile browser.
Why it matters: Save on the supported browser, then test on the TV.
Is Peacock a standalone Irish service?
Current standalone terms and availability notices restrict access to the US.
Why it matters: Use the local broadcaster’s guide when programmes are licensed elsewhere.
