Gorilla Tag safety settings help parents review the active VR game where players move their arms to run, climb and play tag. The physical activity and shared spaces appeal to children, but public voice chat needs particular care.
For young people, shared activities can offer enjoyment, creativity and belonging. However, conversations, spending and pressure to keep playing need separate attention. This guide explains the documented protections, their limitations and practical family choices.

Age Rating and Child Safety Warning
The official Steam listing displays an ESRB Everyone rating with mild fantasy violence, online interaction and purchases. This is not a universal account age or an assurance about other players. Check the rating shown for the child’s exact store and device.
For supported Meta Quest devices, Another Axiom’s privacy policy describes access from age 10 through a Parent Managed Account. It separately describes age 13 for Quest 1 and Rift access. Other platform rules can differ. Therefore, check current device eligibility and use the child’s own account.
For parents, cartoon gorillas do not make a public conversation suitable for every child. Children may hear abusive language or requests to move to another service. Adult verification confirms who can give permission, rather than the identity or intentions of other players.
Gorilla Tag Parental Controls and Restrictions
Start Gorilla Tag parent permissions with the correct age
The game uses age and regional information to offer the relevant permissions. In addition, keep the parent’s email and login separate from the child’s.
- Launch the game on the child’s own platform profile. Use the thumbsticks to enter the child’s accurate age when prompted.
- Follow the displayed guardian permission request with the parent or guardian. Complete any adult verification only through the official flow.
- Then return to the game and review which features the account can actually use. Do not change the age to unlock a blocked feature.
Why it matters: Younger players can continue with restricted features while waiting for permission. Verification methods and consent thresholds can vary by region.
Gorilla Tag safety settings in the family dashboard
The free k-ID family dashboard manages game permissions. Review voice, custom names, group joining and access to the Virtual Stump separately.
- Sign in to the official family dashboard as the parent.
- At your Profile, open Account Settings, then Manage my Kids.
- Choose the Child Profile and View Profile. Select Gorilla Tag.
- Tap Edit Permissions. Turn the relevant permissions OFF when unsuitable, or review them individually before allowing access.
- Select Save, then check the resulting access in the child’s game.
Why it matters: An allowance for one feature does not establish consent for every other feature. Therefore, review changes after a new account or device. Never pay someone claiming they can unlock parental permissions.
For younger accounts, the privacy policy describes restricted voice, random names, private room access and purchases unless a guardian permits otherwise. However, a private room code can still circulate. Moreover, group permission does not prove that everyone inside a room is known to your family.
Gorilla Tag parental controls for headset time
For a linked Meta child or teen account, use the parent’s Family Centre. These controls manage headset use separately from game permissions.
- Open the Meta Horizon app on the parent’s phone.
- Tap Menu, then Family Centre.
- Under Family members, choose the child and tap Manage time limits.
- Set the available daily allowance and breaks. Then check the saved schedule with the child.
Why it matters: A headset limit does not govern a separate computer or another account. If the controls are unavailable, check the family link with Meta support.
Gorilla Tag Safety Settings and Why They Matter
Mute an unwanted Gorilla Tag voice
First, help your child recognise the player who is speaking. Muting reduces unwanted audio without requiring an argument.
- Go to the large player board in the game.
- Find the relevant player and toggle the Mute button beside their entry.
- Then check that the unwanted voice is no longer audible.
Why it matters: The mute preference is stored locally and persists across sessions. Consequently, reapply it after uninstalling the game. However, it does not prevent contact through another app.
Gorilla Tag safety settings for all human voices
Similarly, replacing human voice with monkey sounds reduces exposure to live conversation. Parent permissions and local audio preferences serve different purposes.
- Open the in game computer.
- Use its voice controls to disable human speech and select monkey sounds.
- Next, check the result in a normal session. Separately restrict voice permission through the parent dashboard when a parent managed boundary is needed.
Why it matters: A local audio choice may be changeable by the player. Therefore, do not mistake it for a parent locked permission or a protection against every kind of interaction.
Report harmful behaviour in Gorilla Tag
For harassment, threats or discriminatory abuse, make a report as well as leaving. A mute does not send a moderation concern.
- Find the player on the large player board.
- Use the Report control beside their name and complete the displayed report choices.
- For an issue you cannot report there, use official Gorilla Tag support with an adult’s help.
Why it matters: Moderators need a clear account of the concern. Do not encourage a child to remain in a harmful room to collect more evidence.
Revoke Gorilla Tag access through the parent profile
If the permissions no longer suit the child, the parent can revoke the game’s access from the family profile. This is separate from erasing game data.
- Sign in to family.k-id.com, open Profile, Account Settings and Manage my kids.
- On the child profile, open the three dots and View Profile.
- Under Approved Apps, choose the game and select Revoke access. Read the notice before confirming.
Why it matters: Revocation changes the permission relationship. It does not establish that Another Axiom has deleted the game account or refunded purchases.
Request Gorilla Tag account data or deletion
For account information, correction or deletion, use the game provider’s official support. Removing a family dashboard profile is not the same request.
- Open Gorilla Tag support as the parent or guardian.
- State whether you want to review, correct or delete the child’s data, or close the game account.
- Complete identity checks only in the official support process. Read the consequences before authorising deletion.
Why it matters: The provider may need to verify the guardian. Keep receipts and account identifiers private, and check subscriptions or seller refunds separately.
How to Use Gorilla Tag Safely
For VR play, clear the surrounding space and keep other people away from swinging arms. Follow the headset’s boundary and health guidance, take breaks and stop if anyone feels unwell. For families, a shared play area makes it easier to notice distress than an isolated bedroom.
For parents, ask your child to show you a normal session. Review who joins, what they enjoy and what makes stopping difficult. In addition, practise leaving an uncomfortable interaction without arguing or explaining personal details.
Similarly, agree that an online friendship never requires secrecy, private photographs, money or contact through another app. A familiar username or impressive score does not prove someone’s age or identity. Keep school, home address and daily routines out of profiles and conversations.
Essential Safety Advice and Current Concerns
However, Gorilla Tag safety settings cannot judge another person’s intentions. Social pressure, sexual comments, threats and requests for private contact deserve attention even when a player seems friendly. Ask about behaviour rather than judging trust from an avatar, status badge or shared interests.
If someone threatens or sexually pressures a child, stay calm and listen. Stop contact, preserve relevant nonsexual messages where safe and use reporting tools. Do not download or forward sexual images of children. Reassure the child that asking for help will not get them into trouble.
In Ireland, contact An Garda Síochána about suspected grooming or exploitation. In an emergency, call 112 or 999. CODA education and website guidance do not replace an urgent safeguarding response.
For families, protect sleep, schoolwork, meals and time away from screens. Agree spending before opening the shop, and review pressure from limited offers or other players. If play repeatedly causes distress, discuss the pattern together and seek suitable support.
Platform Support and Regional Differences
For game issues, use Gorilla Tag support. For guardian verification problems, use k-ID support. Headset purchases, account recovery and device restrictions need the relevant platform’s own support. In addition, keep credentials and verification codes out of room chat.
For families in Ireland, the UK and the USA, Gorilla Tag safety settings can differ by account age, device and rollout. A store rating, account permission and identity check answer different questions. Therefore, inspect the actual child account rather than borrowing an adult login to bypass a restriction.
Gorilla Tag safety settings for saved Meta payments
A headset account can have its own saved payment method. First, review the paying account separately from the game profile.
- Open Meta’s payment removal guide and choose the option for owning a Quest or using Meta Horizon.
- Select Remove a payment method, then follow its Payment settings link.
- In the correct purchasing account, select the unwanted payment method and Remove. Check the result.
Why it matters: However, a method supporting an active subscription may need a replacement or cancellation first. Removing it does not undo earlier purchases or cancel renewal. Existing balances need separate review.
Gorilla Tag safety settings for Meta refund requests
Meta’s ordinary digital refund route covers eligible apps and games. However, do not assume it covers a paid item inside a free game.
- Open the Meta Horizon app on the phone using the purchasing account.
- Select Menu at the top of the Horizon Feed, then Purchase history under Payment and subscriptions.
- Select Options beside the purchase, then Request refund and complete the offered instructions.
- For a child’s Meta account, the guardian first signs in with their own information and continues as the child to access the purchase.
Why it matters: For example, the ordinary policy requires a request within 14 days and under two hours of use. It excludes in app purchases and subscriptions. Use Meta’s refund and support guidance for the applicable route and terms. Never promise reimbursement for currency or cosmetics.
Gorilla Tag safety settings for Steam billing help
For a Steam receipt, use the purchasing Steam account. However, a game refund differs from a currency or subscription complaint.
- Open Steam Support, sign in and select Purchases.
- Select the transaction and the problem, then I’d like to request a refund where offered.
- Choose the offered refund destination, complete the form and submit it. Finally, check the confirmation email.
- For saved billing details or renewal, open Account Details and review the payment or subscription concerned. Use Steam Support if the required change is unavailable.
Why it matters: Steam’s request instructions explain the normal game policy of under two hours and within 14 days. Different product rules apply to in game purchases and subscriptions. Card removal does not empty a Steam Wallet or cancel renewal.
Gorilla Tag parental controls across family devices
The guardian dashboard and headset controls serve different purposes. First, complete the relevant setup for the child’s actual headset and account.
- Use the guardian setup instructions above, then review the child’s dashboard permissions.
- For the headset’s schedule, follow the Meta family time instructions above. Check the child’s actual linked headset.
- If the child also plays through a Windows computer, use CODA’s Microsoft Family Safety guide. Apply only supported device controls.
- Finally, protect the guardian account and check the saved restrictions with the child. A phone’s own time limit does not manage the headset.
Why it matters: Phone supervision does not automatically control a headset, console or another account. Also review that platform’s family settings. Existing balances, browser stores and external chat can remain available despite an app purchase block.
Gorilla Tag Safety Settings Checklist
- First, confirm the correct age, account and device.
- Next, review friends, group access and any external messaging apps.
- In addition, check spending and time controls on every device used.
- Practise leaving, muting and reporting together.
- Finally, revisit Gorilla Tag safety settings after updates or changes to the account.
Gorilla Tag Safety Settings Questions
Do these settings guarantee safety?
No. Controls reduce particular risks, but another player can still lie, pressure or upset someone. Therefore, keep regular conversations alongside the settings and help the child seek support early. Never treat an age check as proof of good intentions.
Will one setting cover every device?
No. A child can use a different profile, device or payment service. For example, a phone spending restriction does not establish the same protection on a computer. Review linked accounts and the actual route your child uses to play.
