Crunchyroll Safety Settings

Crunchyroll logo for the safety settings guide

Crunchyroll safety settings help parents supervise anime viewing and protect adult profiles on a shared account. Crunchyroll streams anime series and films, with different membership options and supported devices. This guide helps adult account holders set Teen Profiles, viewing restrictions, profile PINs and account protection.

Teenagers may enjoy the artwork, stories, subtitles and series their friends discuss. However, animation can include sexual content, graphic violence and difficult themes. Therefore, choose programmes together and check the actual rating rather than assuming a cartoon is for children.

Age Rating and Child Safety Warning

Crunchyroll’s current terms require an account holder to be 18 or older, or the higher age of majority where applicable. Ages 13 to 17 may use a supervised Teen Profile within a parent or guardian’s account. The terms say the service is not intended for children under 13. Older notices stating a 16 year account minimum should not replace these current terms.

Separately, the Irish Apple listing has a 13+ app rating with content restrictions. The catalogue includes adult programmes. A default Teen Profile allows content up to Ages 14 and up, which may still be too mature for a particular teenager. Review the limit after creating or converting the profile.

Age labels do not prove identity or establish that every episode is suitable. The public documentation does not establish a routine Irish biometric or document check. Do not apply another country’s verification process to an Irish account without current evidence.

Crunchyroll Parental Controls and Restrictions

Create a supervised Crunchyroll Teen Profile

Teen Profiles sit within the adult account rather than creating a separate child account. Multiple profiles require a supported Premium subscription method.

  • Sign in to the adult account and open profile management from the avatar or Switch Profiles.
  • Open Manage Profiles and select Add New.
  • Enter a profile name and only an optional username you are comfortable sharing.
  • Turn on Teen Profile, then choose Save.
  • For an existing profile, open it in Manage Profiles, turn on Teen Profile and choose Save.
  • Review Content Restrictions afterwards, because creating or converting a Teen Profile sets the default to Ages 14 and up.

Why it matters: A supervised profile creates a useful starting point. However, the default still needs an adult’s judgement and adult profiles need separate PIN protection.

Set Crunchyroll Content Restrictions on the website

Content Restrictions block playback above the selected rating. They do not hide all restricted titles or sensitive cover images.

  • Open the profile you want to restrict in an adult’s web browser.
  • Select the avatar, then Settings.
  • Open Preferences and choose Content Restrictions.
  • Select the rating appropriate for this viewer.
  • Enter the primary account password to apply the change when prompted.
  • Test a title above that rating without handing the password to the teenager.

Why it matters: The adult password protects changes. Nevertheless, a young person may still see catalogue artwork, so check browsing as well as playback.

Set Crunchyroll Content Restrictions on mobile

The app provides a separate route to the same profile restriction. Check you have opened the intended profile first.

  • Open the profile you want to adjust.
  • Select Account at the bottom of the screen.
  • Open Content Restrictions and choose the desired rating.
  • Enter the account password and select Confirm.
  • Check the saved rating, then test it on the television or console used for viewing.

Why it matters: A restriction saved on one interface still needs a practical check elsewhere. Update older apps if the controls are missing or fail to apply.

Lock adult Crunchyroll profiles with a PIN

A Profile PIN protects entry to a profile. Keep the account password private because it can override or change profile protection.

  • Open the adult profile and select the avatar to reach account settings.
  • Choose Profile PIN and turn it on.
  • Enter the account password and choose Continue.
  • Complete the prompts to set the private four digit PIN.
  • Repeat for each other profile with more permissive viewing settings.
  • Test switching from the Teen Profile into those profiles.

Why it matters: Content restrictions on one profile do not protect another open profile. Therefore, combine rating limits with adult profile locks and a private account password.

Recover a Crunchyroll profile PIN

Forgot Pin uses the adult account password. The official reset guidance also allows removing the existing PIN and creating another.

  • At the PIN prompt, select Forgot Pin.
  • Use the account password to regain access and follow the prompts to create a new PIN.
  • Alternatively, open Profile PIN, turn it off, authenticate and choose Continue.
  • Turn Profile PIN back on and complete the new PIN setup.
  • Check that all adult profiles remain protected.

Why it matters: Anyone with the primary password can change the protection. Keep password recovery in the adult’s control and do not leave it saved where a teenager can retrieve it.

Crunchyroll Safety Settings and Why They Matter

Remove unfamiliar Crunchyroll devices

Device Management lets an adult review access and sign out another screen.

  • Sign in on the Crunchyroll website and select the avatar, then Settings.
  • Then open Device Management.
  • Select Deactivate beside a device that should no longer have access.
  • Use Deactivate All Devices when you need to review access across the account.
  • If you suspect account theft, reset the password through the official recovery page and secure the recovery email.

Why it matters: Removing a device helps end its access, but someone with the password can sign in again. Investigate unfamiliar login alerts rather than dismissing them.

Turn off Crunchyroll autoplay on the web player

Autoplay can move viewing into another episode before the viewer decides to continue. This is a playback choice rather than an enforced daily allowance.

  • Start an appropriate video on the website.
  • Next, select the player’s Settings gear.
  • Find Autoplay and switch it off.
  • Check the behaviour at the end of an episode.
  • Review other devices separately if they expose different playback controls.

Why it matters: A deliberate pause supports a family ending point. However, viewers can still choose another episode manually.

Review and clear Crunchyroll watch history

Crunchyroll safety settings protect viewing access, while History lets an adult review or remove saved viewing entries. Discuss this openly with your teenager rather than treating it as secret monitoring.

  • Sign in on the website and open the intended profile.
  • Select the avatar, then History.
  • Review the entries together before deleting anything.
  • Select the trash icon to remove an individual episode.
  • For the whole list, choose Clear History and check the confirmation message.

Why it matters: History can help a family discuss viewing choices. However, clearing it is not an account deletion request and should not be assumed to erase every retained record.

Review Crunchyroll privacy and account data

Profile management and a privacy rights request are different actions. Deleting one profile does not erase every account record.

  • Open the official Privacy Policy and review the choices available for your country.
  • Use its privacy rights routes for account data access or deletion questions.
  • Review cookie consent and optional app permissions separately.
  • Before removing a profile, check whether its viewing history and saved lists are still needed.
  • Use Manage Profiles for profile changes and follow the displayed password confirmation.

Why it matters: Viewing information can affect recommendations and privacy. In addition, clearing local history or deleting a profile is not the same as closing a billed account.

Check and cancel Crunchyroll billing correctly

Start with Membership Info so you know who charges the subscription. Partner channel subscriptions may not provide a direct Crunchyroll account.

  • On the website, select the adult profile icon, then Settings and Membership Info.
  • For direct billing, choose Cancel Subscription, then No thanks, Finish Cancellation.
  • Choose Submit and exit after optional feedback, or Skip and exit.
  • For Apple or Google billing, use the app’s Membership, Manage and Cancel Subscription route to reach the billing provider’s confirmation.
  • For another provider, follow its subscription management route and retain the confirmation.

Why it matters: Logging out, deleting the app or removing a payment method does not cancel membership. Check the final access date and next charge after completing cancellation.

Delete a Crunchyroll account through the app

Account deletion is permanent. First cancel the subscription with the billing provider so a deletion request is not mistaken for cancellation. Keep receipts you may need.

  • Sign in to the correct adult account in the Crunchyroll mobile app.
  • Open account settings, then Privacy and Delete My Account.
  • If a subscription remains active, follow the cancellation prompts first.
  • Choose Continue to Account Deletion to open the intake form.
  • Select the services whose data you want deleted and enter the email address associated with the account.
  • Review the request before submitting it and keep the confirmation.

Why it matters: A profile deletion is different from closing the account. If you only want access to data or another privacy right, use the UK and EU GDPR request route linked in the official deletion guidance instead.

Crunchyroll Safety Settings for Family Viewing

Read the rating and content descriptors on the programme’s details page. Then check how your teenager responds to the themes. A rating can describe a whole series, so it does not explain the exact content of each episode.

Review Crunchyroll safety settings after an app or profile change. Then use the supervised profile for teen viewing and keep adult profiles locked. Also, test whether creating or switching profiles offers a route around the intended restriction. If a control fails, update the app and use Crunchyroll support before allowing independent viewing.

Agree a stopping point and review downloaded episodes before lending a device. Offline viewing depends on the membership and device. Therefore, test the actual profile protection offline instead of assuming the internet connection enforces it.

Parental Controls, Safety Advice and Current Concerns

Some anime includes sexualised imagery, coercion, self harm or disturbing violence. Talk calmly about what a teenager has seen and pause a programme when it is upsetting. The availability of an animated series does not establish that it is suitable for younger viewers.

Anime communities can lead to contact through social media, games or fan servers. Explain that a friendly discussion does not require personal photos, money or private contact with a stranger. If someone pressures or threatens a young person, use the reporting controls where the contact occurred.

Install the official app and avoid unofficial players or messages promising free Premium access. However, games, manga, merchandise and partner channels have their own features and purchase routes. A viewing PIN should not be presented as protecting every Crunchyroll product.

For Irish families, Useful Links and Supports provides routes to appropriate help. If a child seems distressed, listen calmly and reassure them they can tell you. Contact emergency services on 112 or 999 when someone faces immediate danger. CODA education does not replace emergency or safeguarding support.

Platform Support and Regional Differences

The Irish Apple listing confirms local app availability and requires iOS, iPadOS and tvOS 17.0 or later. Programme rights, ratings and membership features can vary by territory. Check the plan and store shown for your family rather than copying another country’s price.

Crunchyroll safety settings depend on the service you watch through. For example, Teen Profiles and profile PINs are documented for supported Premium subscription methods. If you watch through a Prime Video channel or another separate service, use that provider’s profile controls. Do not assume a direct Crunchyroll setting reaches its player.

Current public terms were read directly because search extraction returned no terms text. They supersede older 16 year sign in notices. Exact PIN creation prompts, new profile safeguards and offline enforcement still need an authenticated device walkthrough.

Crunchyroll Safety Settings Checklist

Review these choices together before independent viewing. Then revisit them after a device or account change.

  • Keep the adult account holder and recovery email in control.
  • Use supervised Teen Profiles for ages 13 to 17.
  • Review the default Ages 14 and up restriction.
  • Set Content Restrictions and test blocked playback.
  • Lock every more permissive profile with Profile PIN.
  • Review Device Management and unfamiliar login alerts.
  • Turn off Autoplay where available.
  • Check privacy, downloads and the actual billing provider.

Crunchyroll Safety Settings Questions

Can a 13 year old create their own Crunchyroll account?

The current terms require an adult account holder. Ages 13 to 17 use a supervised Teen Profile within a parent or guardian’s account. The service is not intended for under 13s.

Do Content Restrictions hide mature cover images?

No. The documented restriction prevents playback above the chosen level, while restricted titles and sensitive artwork can still appear.

Can a teenager reset the profile PIN?

The account password can override or change profile protection. Therefore, the adult must keep the password and recovery email private.
