Among Us Safety Settings

Among Us game icon for this safety settings guide

Among Us safety settings help parents review the original social deduction game. Crewmates complete tasks while Impostors use deception, and players discuss who to remove. This guide does not cover Among Us 3D or VR.

For children and teenagers, playing with friends can offer enjoyment, shared goals and a sense of progress. However, communication, spending and pressure to keep playing need separate attention. This guide explains the documented controls and their limits, alongside practical choices for families.

Age Rating and Child Safety Warning

The Irish Apple listing currently rates Among Us 9+. This is an Apple content rating, rather than a PEGI rating or a minimum account age. Check the exact store, edition and device before deciding whether the game suits your child.

The game includes cartoon violence, deception and accusations. For children, those themes and the behaviour of other players need consideration together. A child account uses parental permissions for expanded features. The applicable consent threshold varies by country, so follow the account’s real age and regional prompts.

Adult verification establishes who can grant permissions, rather than whether other players are trustworthy. Read the current verification notice before providing card, identity or other sensitive information. Use only the official permission flow, and do not share identity documents in game chat.

Among Us Parental Controls and Restrictions

Set up the child account and parent permissions

For parents, start with the child’s own platform profile. Among Us links its account to that profile, so an adult’s login can produce different permissions.

  • Open the game using the child’s platform account and enter accurate age information when requested.
  • When the guardian prompt appears, enter the adult’s email and select Send. The adult then follows the official Kids Web Services email.
  • After verification, open Innersloth Parent Portal and review the child’s permissions. Withhold expanded chat, custom names or friends access when unsuitable.
  • Use My Account in the game if you need to edit or resend the guardian email.

Why it matters: The adult can change portal permissions later. However, platform restrictions and external chat apps still need separate review.

Among Us parental controls for Apple purchases

For parents, approve spending before the child starts. A free download can still lead to paid items.

  • On a Screen Time managed iPhone or iPad, open Settings, then Screen Time.
  • Next, select Apps and Websites, App Store, then In-app Purchases and Blocked.

Why it matters: This covers Apple billing. However, separately check browser payments and any existing game currency.

Among Us parental controls for Google Play

Similarly, set approval through the child’s supervised Google account. Keep the adult account private.

  • On your computer, open your Google family and select the child.
  • Choose Controls on Google Play, then Purchase and download approvals, Require approval for and All content.

Why it matters: Approval covers Google Play billing. Separate stores need separate checks.

Set Android time limits for Among Us

Next, agree a stopping time before play. Apply the limit to the child’s supervised device.

  • Open Family Link and select the child.
  • Choose Screen time, Time limits and App limits. Select Among Us, choose Set limit, set the allowance and tap Done.

Why it matters: Check the saved limit together. Another device or account may remain available.

Among Us screen time settings on Apple devices

For Apple devices, first configure the child’s Screen Time through Family Sharing and protect the parent passcode.

  • In the child’s Screen Time settings, open Time Allowances. Select Games and adjust its allowance.
  • Then review Always Allowed and remove gaming exceptions you do not want.

Why it matters: This route requires iOS 27 or iPadOS 27, with compatible software across the family’s Apple devices. Older versions use different menus. Check the version specific Apple instructions.

Among Us Safety Settings and Why They Matter

Among Us safety settings for Quick Chat

Quick Chat uses fixed phrases instead of unrestricted typed messages. Therefore, it can reduce opportunities to share personal information through free text.

  • When hosting or searching for a game, locate the chat type choice.
  • Select Quick Chat Only instead of Free or Quick Chat.
  • Then review the parent portal and withhold Free Chat permission if you need a parent managed restriction.

Why it matters: A lobby choice and an account permission serve different purposes. Similarly, Quick Chat does not prevent contact through another app.

Among Us safety settings for chat filtering

In addition, Censor Chat filters language when players use typed chat. This optional filter serves a different purpose from the parent permission for Free Chat.

  • Open the game’s Settings and select General.
  • Find Censor Chat and set it to On.
  • Then check the setting again after an update or a change of device. Keep Quick Chat Only where unrestricted typing is unsuitable.

Why it matters: A language filter cannot recognise every harmful message, disguised word or personal request. It does not prevent grooming or replace parent permissions.

Keep Among Us lobby codes off shared screens

For families who record or share gameplay, Streamer Mode hides the room code in the lobby. However, it does not make the audience trustworthy.

  • Open the game’s Settings, then General.
  • Turn Streamer Mode on before sharing the screen.
  • Check that the lobby shows Click to copy in place of the code. Share the code privately only with the intended players.

Why it matters: Hiding a visible code reduces accidental disclosure. Nevertheless, someone who receives the code can still pass it on. Review who joins each session.

Among Us privacy settings for friends

Next, review the game’s friends features with your child. Friend codes and lobby invitations can spread beyond the intended group.

  • Open the Friends List and review the people your child knows, along with recent contacts.
  • Use the available Blocked Players controls for unwanted contacts. Do not publish the child’s Friend Code.
  • In Settings, review Friend & Lobby Invites and disable unwanted invite notifications. Separately review friends permission in the parent portal.

Why it matters: Notification controls do not themselves prevent all requests or matching. The original official friends article is older, so check the installed version’s exact blocking controls.

Among Us safety settings for reporting

For harmful conduct, use the player report rather than the gameplay button for reporting a body. Help the child recognise the difference.

  • In the lobby or during a meeting, open Chat.
  • Select the Kick icon, then the player concerned.
  • Choose Report, select the reason and press Confirm.

Why it matters: Reporting sends a conduct concern to Innersloth. It does not establish that the player has immediately lost access to every lobby.

Among Us privacy settings for linked accounts

Similarly, review which platform profiles share the account. A linked account can affect both permissions and purchased items.

  • Before linking, open Among Us Account Management and read the displayed account details.
  • Review the official linking instructions and identify the intended primary account.
  • Check the child permissions before confirming any merge. If the intended outcome is unclear, contact support first.

Why it matters: Linking two child accounts can apply the broader permissions to both. Therefore, never use an adult account as a shortcut around a child restriction.

Find the private account support ID

For support requests, use the account identifier rather than a public username alone. Keep the identifier out of public posts.

  • From the main menu, open Settings.
  • Select Data and locate the Account ID. Provide it only through official support when requested.

Why it matters: This helps support find the correct account. It does not prove another player’s identity or justify sharing account access.

Request account deletion carefully

Finally, distinguish account deletion from uninstalling the app. Deletion can remove linked progress and purchases.

  • For the general deletion route, submit an official support request with the support ID, platform and platform account name.
  • For a child account, send the request from the verified guardian email.
  • On iOS, the game also provides Settings, Data and Delete Account. Read the linked account warning before confirming.

Why it matters: Deletion can erase paid items and linked account data. Contact support about mistakes or cancellation while the request remains pending.

How to Use Among Us Safely

For parents, ask your child to show you a normal session. Review who joins, what they enjoy and what makes stopping difficult. In addition, practise leaving an uncomfortable conversation without arguing or explaining personal details.

For Among Us, arrange sessions with people your family knows and keep lobby codes within that group. Check the room’s privacy status before play. Also, explain that gameplay deception never excuses bullying, sexual comments or pressure to share personal information. External voice calls need their own controls.

Similarly, agree that a game friendship never requires secrecy, private photographs, money or contact through another app. A familiar username or impressive score does not prove someone’s age or identity. Keep school, home address and daily routines out of profiles and conversations.

Essential Safety Advice and Current Concerns

Competitive pressure and daily rewards can make another session feel urgent. Therefore, agree breaks and protect sleep, meals, schoolwork and time with friends away from screens. If play repeatedly causes distress, review the pattern with your child and seek suitable support.

However, Among Us safety settings cannot judge every relationship or message. If someone threatens, manipulates or sexually pressures a child, stay calm and listen. Stop contact, preserve relevant nonsexual messages where safe and use reporting tools. Do not download or forward sexual images of children.

In Ireland, contact An Garda Síochána about suspected grooming or exploitation. In an emergency, call 112 or 999. Reassure the child that asking for help will not get them into trouble.

Platform Support and Regional Differences

For account or moderation problems, use Innersloth’s support form. Include the platform, installed version and a clear description. Send the account support ID only through the official private support channel. A report does not guarantee an immediate reply or a particular outcome.

For families in Ireland, the UK and the USA, Among Us safety settings and store classifications can differ. Follow the child’s actual account prompts and the provider’s current privacy information. Parental consent, a content rating and an identity check answer different questions. None guarantees that another player is safe.

Among Us safety settings for saved Apple payments

For an Apple billed purchase, review the paying Apple Account. Removing its card affects other Apple services too.

  • Open Settings on the iPhone or iPad and select the account holder’s name.
  • Select Payment & Shipping, then Edit.
  • Next, select the Delete button beside the payment method and Remove to confirm.

Why it matters: Apple may require a payment method for subscriptions, an unpaid balance or purchase sharing. Use Apple’s payment removal help if removal is unavailable. Do not disable family protections just to remove a card.

Among Us safety settings for saved Google payments

For Google Play billing, check the purchasing Google account. A browser checkout can use a different seller.

  • On Android, open Google Play and select the Profile icon.
  • Select Payments & subscriptions, then Payment methods and More payment settings.
  • If asked, sign in to the paying account. Under the unwanted method, select Remove, then Remove again.

Why it matters: This changes that Google account’s saved payment method. It does not cancel renewal, remove another seller’s card or stop spending existing currency. Check Google’s payment instructions for device variations.

Among Us safety settings for Apple refund requests

If the receipt names Apple, use Apple’s refund service. First, identify the account and the exact transaction.

  • Open Apple Report a Problem and sign in with the purchasing Apple Account.
  • Select I’d like to, then Request a refund. Choose the reason and select Next.
  • Choose the relevant purchase, then select Submit. Check the request status afterwards.
  • For shared family charges, the organiser can select the Apple Account button, then All, to find the purchase.

Why it matters: Eligibility varies by purchase and region. A request does not guarantee a refund or cancel future renewal. Use Apple’s refund guidance if a charge is missing or pending. Keep receipts private.

Among Us safety settings for Google Play refund requests

For a Google Play receipt in Ireland, use Google’s EEA and UK request route. Other regions have different policies.

  • Sign in at Google Play with the account that made the purchase and select the Profile picture.
  • Select Payments & subscriptions, then Budget & order history.
  • Find the order and select Report a problem. Choose the reason, complete the refund request and select Submit.

Why it matters: Use Google’s regional refund guidance to check eligibility and support options. Refund approval, billing cancellation and purchase approval are separate. If content was not delivered, the developer can also help.

Among Us safety settings for purchase support

Innersloth directs most refund requests to the original store. Its Google Play support route also accepts purchase enquiries.

  • Open Innersloth’s refund instructions and select Submit a Ticket for a Google Play purchase.
  • Describe the problem and provide the requested full digital receipt with its transaction number through the private ticket.
  • For Apple, Steam, Epic, Microsoft, PlayStation or Nintendo receipts, contact that original store instead.

Why it matters: A ticket does not guarantee repayment. Stores set their own conditions, and a moderation ban does not create a refund entitlement. Do not post receipts or account IDs in a lobby.

Among Us safety settings for Steam billing help

For a Steam receipt, use the purchasing Steam account. A game refund differs from a currency or subscription complaint.

  • Open Steam Support, sign in and select Purchases.
  • Select the transaction and the problem, then I’d like to request a refund where offered.
  • Choose the offered refund destination, complete the form and submit it. Check the confirmation email.
  • For saved billing details or renewal, open Account Details and review the payment or subscription concerned. Use Steam Support if the required change is unavailable.

Why it matters: Steam’s request instructions explain the normal game policy of under two hours and within 14 days. Different product rules apply to in game purchases and subscriptions. Card removal does not empty a Steam Wallet or cancel renewal.

Among Us parental controls across family devices

The game account does not replace the device’s family setup. Use the relevant instructions for each device the child actually uses.

Why it matters: Phone supervision does not automatically control a headset, console or another account. Also review that platform’s family settings. Existing balances, browser stores and external chat can remain available despite an app purchase block.

Among Us Safety Settings Checklist

  • First, confirm the correct age, account, game edition and device.
  • Next, review friends, shared groups and any external messaging apps.
  • In addition, check purchases, existing currency and time limits.
  • Practise reporting and leaving an uncomfortable interaction together.
  • Finally, revisit Among Us safety settings after updates or a change of device.

Among Us Safety Settings Questions

Do these settings guarantee safety?

No. Settings can reduce particular risks, but another player can still lie, pressure or upset a child. Therefore, keep regular conversations alongside the controls and help the child seek support early.

Will one device setting cover every account?

No. Another device, account or billing service may follow different rules. For example, a phone purchase restriction does not establish the same protection on a computer. Check the child’s actual access after each change.
